Fausticorn CREATE Poster: finished by MrBackpack Fausticorn CREATE Poster: finished by MrBackpack
The Fausticorn "CREATE" poster in perler beads.

She sits at 38"x29"

35,964 beads or 38 hours later, and she's not even ironed.

Amazing Comment from my /r/mylittlepony post:
Dichotomy 35
(1)And lo, did the Fausticorn commune with Her creations, and bid their days be filled with the outpouring of OC; and within Her flock lay a small satchel by the name of Mister, who yearned to heed to Her message.
(2)And the Mister journeyed to the far lands of Polymer, and returned with the Beads of Ironing. (3)Casting the colored Beads upon the ground, the Mister arranged the beads so as to bear the likeness of the Fausticorn. (4)Taking up the heated surface of the Iron, the Mister affixed the Beads in their positions, sealing for eternity the face of the Fausticorn.
(5)The townspeople rejoyced; there was much celebration, with thanks and singing, and with cymbals, harps, and lyres. (6)And the creation of the Mister was hung in the hallowed halls of the Interwebs, as a testament to the Creation.

not continuous hours by any means.

She's since been ironed and I'll have a photo of her frame and final display location once my wife and I close on our house.

Oh, yeah, I know what you mean but it's still a lot of dedication!

Framing it sounds wonderful.

That's a cute little bead mosaic you got there, of course everything looks bigger using 5 mm beads

I'd made a template to make this from Lego (At a MUCH lower resolution!), but individual pieces are so expensive. I thought of this as a cheaper alternative, but couldn't find bulk quantities of the right colours. Did you buy the beads online? =D

I think the UK equivalent is "Hama Beads", I may just have to make my own (Slightly smaller)version of a Luna poster.

Are you planning to iron the back to preserve the round bead shape, or the front, to make it more square? Either way, this is incredible!

ironing both sides to make sure that the entire thing lays flat.

I meant to ask earlier, what method did you use to make the design (Or did you just buy approximate bead quantities and lay it out by eye as you went along)? I've just tried resizing it and retracing the whole thing, but surely there's a program to match each pixel to its nearest counterpart in a greatly reduced palette.

At that resolution perhaps you didn't have to deal with mixed pixel colours, but at <100 pixels (And when using degraded-effect images) it's almost impossible to get an idea of the number of beads required.

for a project this size I stretched the image across several sheets of paper using a "block poster" website to expand the image.

Then I put the image under a series of clear peg boards and went to town on that.

With this particular image, there were only four colors so I didn't really have any color bleed.

Wow! I remember doing this in kindergarten, although that was like 50 beads.
Make sure you show this to Lauren.
